in the widest variety. Odessa has 7 theatres, 2 chains of modern movie
theatres, indoor and outdoor clubs, and a selection of restaurants and
cafes that can satisfy almost any taste.
Theatres
Theatrical life in Odessa certainly concentrates in its magnificent Opera
and Ballet Theatre. None the less famous and interesting are the performances
in the Theatre of Ukrainian Drama, the Theatre of Russian Drama, and the
Theatre of Musical Comedy. There are several specialized theatres such
as ‘House of Clowns’, Puppets Theatre, and Children Theatre.
Cinemas
All new movie hits are to be found in two of Odessa chains of movie theatres.
In total, they have five cinemas in various areas of the city.
Nightlife
The nightlife is extremely varied, with many bars, pubs, discos and nightclubs
open until the small hours. Odessa club life is diverse and active in
all seasons. In wintertime there are quite a few clubs offering various
types of music and entertainment – from latest electronica to newest
pop hits, from dancing to variety shows. There is a choice between major
show clubs and small exquisite places offering a trendier atmosphere.
Summer is a perfect time for beach clubs, which are very numerous throughout
the city.
Restaurants and Cafes A Cosmopolitan Flavour
Odessa cosmopolitan flavour is matched by the city’s many
restaurants and entertainment venues, which provide a truly international
array of choices for the visitor. There is something for almost any taste
in Odessa – from finest European cuisine to exotic positions of
Japanese, Chinese and Indian traditional menus. Certainly, many places
offer excellent Ukrainian dishes. There are also restaurants of Russian,
Jewish, Italian, American, Cuban, Mexican national cuisines.
The restaurants offer a remarkably diverse range of food and beverage
outlets. They cover everything from coffee shops to fine dining and speciality
outlets and the standard of service is on a par with the best in Europe.
All eating places are air-conditioned, clean and are often culinary adventures
in their own right.
